Description
What it is
The infinite (variable) heat switch that sits behind the knob on a GE electric range and controls one 6 in surface element. It cycles the element on and off at a rate that depends on the knob position — from a slow gentle cycle at LO to a steady on at HI. When the switch fails the element will not heat, will only heat on one setting, or will stay on at full power with the knob in the OFF position.
Symptoms it fixes
One surface element does not heat at any setting. One surface element only heats on HI. One surface element will not turn off (the burner stays red even with the knob in OFF — a fire risk; unplug the range before replacing). The knob feels loose or the indicator no longer lines up with the dial markings.

Body dimensions: 1.7 × 1 × 1.4 in, overall width including the mounting flange 2.3 in. Electrical: 240 V, 4.4–7.4 A, 1560 W. Markings on the switch: 164D1816P008 / NL 611600 / 1407906. Why a 3-pack
The job is the same regardless of how many switches you replace — pull the range out, lift the top, swap the switches, put it back. Three switches cover a full-size range (four burners need four, but the smaller 6 in burner pair often shares a part number and the 8 in pair shares another; three is the right size for a typical 30 in range that has three 6 in burners, or for a 40 in range with two 6 in and one 8 in). It is also the convenient size for a service tech or a property maintenance kit.
Specification
240 V AC, 4.4 A at LO to 7.4 A at HI, rated for a 6 in / 1560 W surface element. Body 1.7 × 1 × 1.4 in, 2.3 in wide. Infinite (variable) control with OFF / LO / 2 / 3 / 4 / 5 / 6 / HI positions. Spade terminals on the back for the line, the load and the indicator light.
Fits
GE, Hotpoint and RCA electric ranges that use this switch for the 6 in surface element. Crosses to a long list of GE model series. The 8 in element version is WB24T10028 (sold separately).
Replaces
WB24T10029 (also GEHWB24T10029, ERWB24T10029, ES10029, WB24T10029CM) and the factory internal number 164D1816P008 / NL 611600 / 1407906. Aftermarket cross-references include AP2024076, PS236754, AH236754, EA236754.
Fitting
Unplug the range (or shut off the breaker at the panel). Pull the range out and lift the cooktop. Note which terminals each wire goes to — the switch has a line side, a load side and an indicator-lamp terminal, and getting them crossed will misbehave. Pull the knob off, unscrew the two mounting screws from the front of the switch body, transfer the wires one at a time to the new switch, refit and reassemble. Plug back in and test each setting on the element before you push the range back into place.
Before you order
Send us the model number from the range data plate (behind the storage drawer or on the oven frame) and we will confirm the fit before you buy. If it does not fit, we replace it.
