Description
What it is
The silicone O-ring that seals the brew unit (filter) to the generator on De’Longhi fully automatic espresso machines. It is the usual cause of water appearing under the machine during brewing, noticeably weaker brewing pressure, and steam or water escaping around the generator housing. Silicone hardens and flattens with heat and pressure, so this is a service item, not a once-in-a-lifetime part.
Size
43.6 mm outside diameter, 35.2 mm inside diameter, 4.2 mm section, orange silicone. Measure the ring you are removing — a ring that is close but not exact will leak again within weeks.
Why a 6-pack
The brew unit carries two of these rings and the brewing piston one, so a full reseal uses three. Six rings give you a complete reseal plus a spare set to keep on the shelf — worth having, because once one ring has gone the others are the same age.

Fitting
Unplug the machine and let it cool and depressurise before you open it. Note which way the old ring sits before removing it, lubricate the new ring with a little food-grade silicone grease, seat it evenly in its groove and do not over-tighten the housing. Run a plain water cycle afterwards and check underneath for drips.
